Photography Policy

So... I take photos. I started in high school. I have told the story before but maybe you haven't heard it. (or read it) I went to a Catholic high school that was majority white, latino and lastly black. My friends were a mix of blacks, latinos and then white. I decided to borrow my grandmother's camera to take pictures of my "crew" because we were grossly under respresented in the year book. I bought some black and white film (didn't know a thing about it) and started shooting. Because I didn't have the knowledge at the time the technical quality of the photographs were lacking. I didn't show those first shots to many folks. (hmmm anybody really) But it made me realize that I wanted to continue with photography and art in general. As an elective I took Art when everyone else took typing. My family realized that I was an artist early on and encouraged me but supporting my habit! With that said... Here is what I strive for as an artist.

Photo philosophy
Nothing in life is perfect. That is the premise of my photography, if a hair is out of place that was the moment. I view photography as a documentation of time. Wrinkles, lint, wind tossed hair are all the honesty of the moment. My focus is on the connection of the subject and the lens. Having been on both sides of the camera I know how intimidating the eye of the lens can be. I promote a light atmosphere where comfort level is a high priority.  My goal is to provide an image that captures the truth of the subject.
